Job Title: Windows System Administrator
Work Location: Boulder, CO (Hybrid with required days on site)
Clearance Required: US Citizen; Public Trust (National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI))

Alpha Omega is seeking a Windows System Administrator to support and maintain our enterprise Windows environment. In this role, you'll be responsible for Domain administration, Group Policy management, deployments, patch management, vulnerability remediation, software installations, system troubleshooting, and end-user support.

You will also manage hardware inventory, and assist with the physical setup and relocation of IT equipment. We are seeking someone detail-oriented, customer-focused, and experienced in maintaining secure, reliable, and compliant Windows ecosystem in an enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Installing, configuring, and managing Windows workstations and servers.
  • Managing Active Directory, Group Policy, User Access, and other services.
  • Ensuring compliance with organizational security policies and industry standards to protect data and systems.
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance via: phone, e-mail, in person, or the NCEI Jira ticketing application.
  • Support walk-up requests from NCEI employees when it's not feasible for the employee to submit a support request.
  • Provide incident and problem management for all issues reported by creating, updating, and managing requests.
  • Escalate service requests in accordance with the processes and procedures maintained in the knowledgebase and documenting the escalation or resolution as appropriate.
  • Address assigned incidents and problems in a timely manner, consistent with applicable SLAs and established NCEI, NESDIS, NOAA, and Department of Commerce protocols.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot end-user workstation issues and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Follow-up with end users to provide status updates meeting expected service level targets.
  • Track metrics necessary to ensure objective reporting of actual performance against support SLAs.
  • Work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Be responsive, reliable, and able to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Adhere to NCEI change, configuration, and security guidelines.


Required Qualifications:

Education:



  • Education Requirement with specific field of study: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business or Related Technical Field


Experience/Skills:



  • Minimum Years of Overall Experience: 2
  • Minimum Years of Specific Experience in Field: 2
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and broad understanding of relationships between hardware and applications.


  • Professional communication skills with the ability to speak about and explain complex concepts, as well as the ability to provide recommendations for the needs of the client.
  • Ability to follow through on open issues and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with dynamic priorities.
  • Proactive time management skills
  • Comprehensive experience of MS Windows-based laptops, desktops, and servers.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server Administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience supporting Windows 10,11 & Server 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025
  • Experience supporting Apple hardware and MacOS.


Certification(s):



  • CompTIA Certificate (A+, Network +, Server+, or Security+)- Desired
  • HDI Certificate (Customer Service Representative (HDI-CSR), Support Center Analyst (HDI-SCA), or HDI Desktop Advanced Support Technician (HDI-DAST))- Desired


Salary and Benefit Information:

The likely salary range for this position is $61,100 - $65,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
