Summary:The Staff Accountant performs routine journal entries and maintains business transactions in the General Ledger of the organization, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that include analytical and thorough review of financial records. This role computes, classifies, records, and verifies promotion and brokerage data for use in maintaining accounting records while exhibiting exceptional customer service skills.

  • Calculate the accrual rate needed to cover expected program expenses and ensure that it is set up accurately in SAP (ERP System).
  • Reconcile actual promotional spending on accruals and adjust as needed to maintain the balance at the customer level.
  • Communicates and collaborates with the Sales Team and promotion coordinators to ensure timely and accurate information and understanding of promotional activity.
  • Performs monthly reconciliation to marketing accrual account and processing journal entries as needed.
  • Coordinates with Category Managers and Regionals to update and maintain regional and broker assignment to customers and rates.
  • Maintains setup for commissions by item and customer for numerous brokers.
  • Processes monthly reporting on commissions paid to the brokers and ensures payments are made to the brokers.
  • Sets up new brokers for Domestic Sales.
  • Reviews broker contracts to make sure we are compliant, and the contract conforms to our system parameters.
  • Reconciles Domestic and Canned brokers accounts to GL each month. Make reconciling adjusting entries as needed.
  • Make journal entries for CAD translation for Canadian brokers and invoicing.
  • Accrues and reconciles monthly duty and fees for Canadian importing invoicing.

This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate range of $33 to $43 per hour.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

  • A minimum of two years of experience as an Accountant in an office environment and intermediate knowledge of accounting and accounting systems.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the accounting cycle.
  • Proficiency in Excel, especially for Pivot Tables and Lookup functions.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, database systems, inventory systems, order processing systems, and Microsoft Office.

Preferred education and experience

  • Working towards a CPA or CMA
  • Public Accounting experience
  • Seafood industry experience
  • SAP experience

Work Environment

This hybrid position will be a combination of remote and onsite at the Trident Support Center office in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA. Our hybrid work environment includes remote work on Monday and Friday and in-office in the Support Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

In-office time takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and moderate noise. While remote, employees must provide appropriate home office space.

Physical/Mental demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time at a desk. Frequently required to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee will occasionally stand, walk, and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision for frequent use of a computer.
