Prison Education Initiative Reentry Support Coordinator

University of Wisconsin Madison
$55,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
United States, Wisconsin, Madison
21 North Park Street (Show on map)
Apr 29, 2025
Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a public, land-grant institution that exemplifies the "Wisconsin Idea" that the resources of the university should benefit all the citizens of the state. The Division of Continuing Studies (DCS) provides and supports high-quality continuing education, outreach, service and scholarship related to personal enrichment and professional development. The Prison Education Initiative (PEI) is housed within DCS and supports UWs statewide in delivering degree and microcredential programs to students incarcerated in Wisconsin state prisons.

Students who enroll in UW programs in prison typically leave prison and reenter their communities when their prison term is finished (this process is known as reentry). The PEI's goal in reentry is to help formerly incarcerated students complete degree programs if needed, secure appropriate employment, and succeed long-term.

This position will work closely with the PEI Director to develop a reentry support strategy and will oversee implementation of the strategy. A reentry support strategy will likely include partnerships with community and governmental organizations. This position will be responsible for managing agreements between the Prison Education Initiative and organizations that support formerly incarcerated students. This position will also help students create and follow individual reentry plans, support the PEI Career Advisor in outreach to potential employers, track student outcomes, and perform additional communications and administrative tasks to support successful reentry.
