About the role

Handles the administration of benefit plans and policies. Serves as the escalation point for all inquiries from employees, leaders, managers and benefit specialists.

What you'll be doing
  • Administer the day-to-day activities related to all benefit programs including but not limited to health and welfare, disability, flexible spending accounts, health saving accounts, life insurance, retirement plans, tuition reimbursements, wellness programs and various voluntary programs.
  • Mentors and serves as an escalation point for Benefit Specialists, assists with the day to day, benefit questions, processes and issue resolution.
  • Supervises employees that perform a wide variety of work. Assist with the annual evaluations, coaching and termination of benefits specialists.
  • Responsible for the data integrity of benefits data within systems. Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS systems and with third party benefits administrator and insurance carriers.
  • Provides customer support on complex employee issues to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Research and respond to benefits inquiries and/ or escalations from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Act as the liaison with field, vendors, internal departments, and employees related to benefit issues, eligibility, enrollment, terminations, and all benefit related items.
  • Ensures case load is responded to timely (based on departmental requirements).
  • Conducts new hire orientation.
  • Conducts audits and trainings as needed.
  • Compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations. Identify and resolve potential areas of non-compliance.
  • Reconcile and prepare all invoices and wires related to all benefit plans or employee accounts.
  • Assists with the execution of open enrollment.
  • Develops communications and ensure all documents are updated annually.
  • Assists with benefit projects, program implementation and design changes.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
About you
  • Associate degree and five years of benefits experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification credential preferred
  • Knowledge of health and welfare plans, retirement plans, and customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with professionalism and respect.
  • Able to work independently and assist employees as necessary, without guidance.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, including demonstrating highly effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate, set goals, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to identify deficiencies and take corrective action.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and very detailed oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
