About the Role

In this role, you will lead the Global Functions Performance & Planning team, driving the redesign of global planning processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. You will take ownership of the end-to-end processes related to quarterly forecasts, the strategic business plan, and the annual budget cycle, ensuring that all aspects are aligned with organizational goals.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing monthly and quarterly business reviews, guaranteeing that the quality of content is fit for purpose and meets the expectations of stakeholders. As the primary liaison for the Global Functions team, the Global Functions CFO, and Business Unit Finance teams, you will facilitate communication and collaboration across various groups, including Group and Plan to Perform.

You will also be tasked with creating improved financial performance reporting, which encompasses variance analysis, KPI tracking, and comparative analysis against benchmarks. This reporting will provide strategic insights tailored for an executive audience, enabling informed decision-making.

Additionally, you will design reporting processes in collaboration with multiple stakeholder groups to promote and implement best practices. It is important to note that as business needs evolve over time, your projects and job responsibilities may also change to adapt to these new requirements.

  • Support executive leadership and other key customers by performing analyses, coordinating across stakeholder groups, and effectively communicating key takeaways and recommendations
  • Develop strong, collaborative working relationships with business partners across teams and levels
  • Apply analytical skills, judgement, attention to detail, and creativity to effectively solve problems
  • Navigate ambiguity, take initiative, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, balancing the needs of multiple stakeholder groups
  • Support Global Finance on the design and implementation of National Grid's new forecasting tool
  • Proactively build relationships and drive accountability
  • Support and manage a team of four
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or Math required; MBA or Master's degree a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate, iterate, and influence
  • Ability to thrive in a matrix type environment
  • Prior experience in directing and leading others
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Inquisitive and self-starter
  • Ability to synthesize large datasets and develop and/or pressure test comprehensive analysis to inform the business and drive decisions
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint (ability to train staff on intermediate level)
  • Experience with SAP, Alteryx, PowerBI a plus
  • Governance, risk, and internal control frameworks

Annual Salary

Waltham and surrounding area: $181,000-$213,000

Brooklyn and surrounding area: $194,000-$228,000

Salary commensurate with experience and location.

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
