Summary:

The Cognitive Performance Specialist (CPS) will perform as subject matter experts in the areas of Sports or Performance Psychology, effectively employing mental/cognitive skills training to optimize functioning of Aircrew. The Cognitive Performance

Specialist (CPS) will provide individual and group training and may be required to support applied research efforts across functional areas, including cognitive enhancement and accelerated learning, instructor development and training, tactical training, holistic human performance training, and man machine interface.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Complete all in-processing requirements and participate in job-specific training activities, which may include simulations and other hands-on training opportunities.
  • Assist in the development of research procedures.
  • Analyze and identify needs, and provide viable interventions, including training and performance support.
  • Use simulation technology and biofeedback to promote excellence and efficiency for physical, technical, and tactical training during the challenges of combat operations or pressure situations. Gather data, compile information into documents, and provide briefings, regarding applicable sports/performance/operational/aviation psychology and leverage mental expertise and cognitive enhancement training techniques.
  • Apply expertise in the subject matter, including industry best practices of operational and functional cognitive performance from military, aviation, and professional sports for the development of training programs.
  • Integrate cognitive performance with physical fitness training.
  • Develop and deliver relevant cognitive performance content and teaching materials for all HP syllabi.
  • Gather data, compile information into documents, and provide briefings, regarding applicable sports/performance/operational/aviation psychology and leverage mental expertise and cognitive enhancement training techniques.
  • Deliver briefings, educational sessions, and seminars as needed.
  • Maintain all professional credentials and certifications.
  • Attend staff meetings with squadron commander as requested to review and evaluate human performance programming and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop an Individualized Program (IP) for each member served: The CPS, working with other team members will develop an IP for each assigned aircrew member to optimize cognitive performance, with emphasis on warfighting skills and tasks in a complex, demanding environment.
  • Prepare and submit data to a comprehensive Human Performance Measures of Effectiveness Report (HP-MER).
  • Document Aircrew assessments, encounters, and contacts as directed by the OHWS Program Office within 72 hours of assessments, encounters, or contacts with Aircrew Members. The Contractor may further be required to provide associated information, data, and support of other government entities (e.g. Air Force Research Lab). No information, data, and support will be provided absent written concurrence with the Government (OHWS Program Office and COR) to facilitate the OHWS program effectiveness.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in cognitive performance optimization and mental readiness strategies
  • Ability to develop and implement cognitive training programs
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in psychology, Counseling, Human Performance, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Sport Sciences with a specialization in Sport Psychology or similar from an accredited institution/university.
  • Current certification in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training.
  • Minimum 2+ years providing cognitive performance services.
  • Experience in collegiate (or higher), professional, or tactical athletics; aerospace industry, test pilot/astronaut or similar man-machine high performance environment.
  • Must has a favorable Tier 3 (T3) security investigation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Any advanced related certifications.
