Job Description:

The Sr. Manager, Operational Excellence will lead continuous improvement initiatives in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, focusing on operational efficiency, lean manufacturing, and cost optimization. This role will be responsible for driving productivity improvements, enhancing labor utilization, and optimizing production practices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of GMP-regulated environments, Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and financial analysis to support data-driven decision-making.

1. Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing:

  • Lead and sustain continuous improvement (CI) initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for waste reduction, process streamlining, and cost savings.
  • Standardize and improve work processes, ensuring alignment with cGMP, FDA, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and sustain 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to enhance efficiency.
  • Partner with Reliability Engineering, Technical Services, and Quality to drive initiatives that improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), yield, and batch cycle times.

2. Operational Efficiency & Performance Management:

  • Utilize data-driven methodologies to identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead Kaizen events, root cause analysis, and A3 problem-solving to resolve operational bottlenecks.
  • Monitor and enhance manufacturing KPIs such as cycle time, scrap rates, and throughput efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability across all manufacturing teams.

3. Culture & Workforce Engagement:

  • Train and mentor employees on Lean principles, problem-solving techniques, and best practices in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in driving a culture of manufacturing excellence.
  • Support change management efforts, ensuring that process improvements are effectively adopted and sustained.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to align goals and drive holistic improvements.

4. Cost Optimization & Financial Analysis:

  • Improve labor utilization and absorption rates by identifying inefficiencies and aligning workforce allocation with production demand.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to track cost performance, labor efficiency, and material variances.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce direct and indirect costs while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Business or related field required.
  • 10+ years of related experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree as long as applicant has HS diploma.
  • Proven experience in continuous improvement leadership required.
  • Managerial Experience required.
  • Experience with Production Planning required.
  • Microsoft office required.
  • Pharmaceutical or manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Familiarity with relevant labor laws and regulations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Managing conflict and influencing outcomes
  • Strong leadership skills

Shift: Weekdays

Compensation & Benefits:

This is an on-site, full-time position located in Spokane, WA.

  • Hiring Wage: $101,500 - $163,100 annually depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises. See full list of benefits below for our complete compensation package.
