Develops and leads a comprehensive, evolving program of donor relations and stewardship that deepens the relationship and trust with donors across all levels to increase engagement and support. The role also designs and implements personalized and behavior-based stewardship experiences and messages that demonstrate impact, gratitude, and reinforces the donor's intent and interests to inspire continued investment. The position also works ti improve systems, processes to improve collaboration and efficiencies. Designs, documents, and implements a systematic and integrated donor relations program encompassing donor recognition events, endowed position installations, and building naming dedications. Devises consistent, accurate, and appropriate information-sharing mechanisms for stewarding prospects and donors. Develops and maintains systems for the valuation and tracking naming opportunities, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and industry best practices. Further, collaborates with advancement leadership, legal counsel, finance, and other key institutional areas to ensure that gift agreements and naming opportunities meet legal, ethical, and fiduciary standards and are in line with university policies. Analyzes and evaluates results and formulates methods for improvement. Reports results regularly to the Associate Vice President and other individuals as appropriate or directed. Ensures budget compliance and assisting with the oversight of gifts and grants made to the institution. Monitors these budgets against articulated goals and objectives throughout the year. Manages the donor relations program for the University in support of fund raising objectives and projects, stewards the commitments made to the benefactors, and is responsible for gift and fund oversight administration. Provides support for development services activities for the division. Manages donor events related to recognition and stewardship. Supervises staff assigned to donor relations and may lead multi-functions projects in support of donor relations efforts. Provides direction to development and advancement staff relating to proper handling of stewardship activities, and assists with cultivation objectives. Defines, creates, recommends, implements and interprets policies and procedures based on goals and objectives established by the division as these relate to donor relations efforts. Provides direction to the donor relations program based on goals and objectives established by the division. In collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Advancement Services, develops and manages the budgets for the donor relations program. Ensures the confidentiality of prospect and donor records. May represent the University at public functions as needed. Coordinates and assists in establishing vendor contracts as needed. Coordinates community event participation with the Office of the Senior Vice President of University Advancement. Proactively serves as a liaison with development officers and campus partners to assist them in establishing and coordinating individualized stewardship plans for donors to their colleges/units. Develops and manages a donor acknowledgment and recognition program, in collaboration with Annual Giving, to deliver timely, meaningful gratitude across all annual giving levels that reinforces impact, strengthens engagement, and supports donor pipeline growth. Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of experience with donor relations and stewardship. Experience managing a donor relations and stewardship team. Desired Qualifications
Master's degree, along with a minimum of six years years of progressive experience within development, stewardship, or advancement services. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a higher education setting or another comparably complex organization. . Strong preference will be given to candidates possessing experience specifically in Donor Relations and Stewardship within a non-profit environment, ideally higher education. Experience in the following areas is highly valued: gift acceptance procedures, relevant gift reporting compliance, management of naming opportunities, and the planning and execution of donor recognition programs. Experience in planning and executing events is preferred, with a strong emphasis on events within a university setting or those involving high-level donors. Experience in the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers and volunteer boards is desirable. Job Category
