Job Overview
The Safety and Risk Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting in developing, implementing and maintaining a safety program that aligns with regulatory systems, contract strategies and organizational policies and procedures. The purpose of the Safety and Risk Assistant Manager is to protect the people, the environment, property, financial and other company and customer resources. The incumbent advises on changes and their implementation and provides training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve safe work practices and environments. The Safety and Risk Assistant Manager is accountable for partnering with department leaders to identify and train staff on behaviors and workflows that mitigate and manage risk. This position is designed to establish and maintain a strong safety culture through awareness and commitment, while mitigating risk factors, for operations and maintenance; logistics and transportation; construction; and all supporting contract departments. Salary Range: $105,358.00 - $115,358.00 Work Model: Onsite/In-Office
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Assist in developing, implementing, maintaining safety procedures and plans designed for ensuring compliance with contract requirements, governing regulatory authorities and company policies.
- Acts as primary point of contact for all safety incidents; maintains accurate, organized, confidential case files.
- Conducts meetings to investigate incidents, report on findings and recommend actions.
- Acts as primary point of contact to advice, review and accept all contractor safety plans.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with safety procedures through inspections, training and evaluations while keeping abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
- Ensures a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigates and establishes corrective actions for issues and complaints relating to safety and risk.
- Engage in frequent communication and coordination between internal staff, Human Resources, Project Management, Insurance Carriers, and Health Care Providers.
- Executes data-driven programs and analyses that identify, measure and monitor risk and safety exposures. Produce recommendations and implement strategies.
- Leads preparation and participation in compliance audits; ensures ongoing compliance with processes, policies, recordkeeping, reporting, etc.
- Effectively and actively utilizes online safety records management database to manage incident, near miss and training records.
- Executes data-driven programs and analyses that identify, measure and monitor risk and safety exposures.
- Efficiently and effectively coordinates multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously.
- Provides clear and decisive written and oral communication.
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism and works well with all levels of the organization.
- Operates Government and company-owned motor vehicles.
- Adheres to established company safety personnel and standard operating procedures and policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- 5+ years of progressive experience with site EHS programs.
- 2+ years in a leadership role with influence regarding the performance of other employees, i.e. performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, mentoring, etc.
- Demonstrate experience investigating incidents to a root cause including generating associated reports, recommending corrective actions, and providing incident and program analysis.
- Demonstrate competent experience and an understanding of risk in developing, providing guidance, reviewing and approving subcontractor safety plans related to service work such as scaffolding, aerial lift and confined space.
- Basic project management knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge and practice of current safety standards, tools and resources.
- Demonstrate competence and application of OSHA regulations applicable to a large-scale facilities maintenance, construction, and/or logistics environment.
- Demonstrated ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of process improvement, safety, productivity, cost, and reliability through creating and trending Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
- Safety Management Software experience.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite Programs, particularly Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft policies and procedures and perform presentations and training.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diverse situations.
- Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
- Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
- Ability to supervise, train and motivate assigned staff members to attain stated objectives.
- Valid state independent driver's license with a suitable driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Medically and physically able to wear a respirator.
