Job Description:
The Manager of Legal Project Management provides support for the firm's legal project management initiatives and analytical and design support towards optimal pricing arrangements. This role supports initiatives that advance client relationships and optimizes the economics on engagements for the on-going growth of the Firm. This position reports to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis and directly supervises the Legal Project Management and Pricing Analyst. A hybrid work schedule is available for this position. - Coordinate and oversee all phases of legal projects from inception to completion.
- Liaise between legal teams, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment.
- Develop, implement, and maintain project plan budgets, at the resource, timeline, and workflow level.
- Monitor project progress using actual vs budget and forecast reporting, to adjust plans as necessary to meet deadlines.
- Conduct regular meetings with legal team members to review project status and address any issues.
- Prepare detailed project status reports and updates for senior management and clients.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues affecting project milestones.
- Responsible for growing the LPM service to mitigate write-downs and improve firm and individual profitability.
- Collaborate with the pricing team and our bid and proposal team to ensure that engagements are priced competitively and profitably.
- Utilize project management software and tools to track and report project metrics.
- Develop and deliver training sessions related to legal project management practices.
- Review and analyze data to assess project performance and areas for improvement.
- Support legal team in drafting, reviewing, and finalizing project-related documents.
- Ensure proper documentation and archival of all project-related materials.
- Develop and implement best practices and methodologies for legal project management.
- Develop key performance indicators for the LPM team. With Director, provide senior management with quarterly updates on the impact being made to the firm.
- Responsible for leading the development and supervision of a junior analyst; including setting clear goals and performance objectives, providing ongoing mentorship and support, and conducting performance evaluations ensuring professional growth.
- Facilitate client feedback sessions and implement improvements based on feedback.
- Represent LPM team on engagements consisting of billing attorneys and other functional area representatives, independently leading project efforts.
- Efficiently create and reuse economic models best suited for circumstances to assess profitability for new business proposals in response to attorney and client requirements.
- Develop ad hoc financial analyses and complex financial models.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
- 10 or more years of relevant experience preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required. CMA/PMP/CPA/MBA or other certifications preferred.
- Demonstrated consultative and customer service skills with the ability to develop relationships with individuals at all levels.
- A persistent drive to efficiently solve problems for internal and external clients.
- Keen ability to critically assess a given business situation for feasibility, financial impact and requirements.
- Strong understanding of engagement economics.
- Excellent PC skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including pivot tables, graphs, advanced formulas and simple queries.
- Excellent financial analysis skills including database management and query techniques and financial modeling, with aptitude for understanding and manipulating data efficiently.
- High level of organizational skills.
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills, both written and verbal
- High level of organizational skills with the ability to plan and handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate feedback and revise analytics as needed.
In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position, depending on location, is as follows:
- Boston, MA: $118,000 - $174,900
- Rochester, NY: $107,000 - $158,950
- Washington, DC: $118,000 - $174,900
In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications.
