Summary:
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the Associate Vice President (AVP) is a strategic and innovative leader in the development and execution of $1.5B in fundraising campaigns for Temple University, an Urban, R-1 University with 17 schools and colleges, including a health system and international campuses. This leader will have a demonstrated track record of leadership and success in large-scale campaign development and operations in a Higher Education environment; and a demonstrated ability to inspire, develop strategy for, lead, and manage day-to-day campaign operations, and partner with senior advancement staff for the university's largest fundraising campaign in our almost 150-year history. In addition, the AVP will be knowledgeable in innovative best practices in fundraising and campaign development and be able to establish and educate teams of fundraisers through a university Fundraising Institute that will create ongoing momentum and philanthropy, fueling generations of giving. The ideal candidate will excel in a dynamic and collaborative environment, work to unify and inspire teams, and lead by example.

Working closely with the senior advancement team, Strategic Marketing and Communications (SMC), and leadership of the university's seventeen (17) schools and colleges, and administrative units, this position will play a strategic leadership role ensuring that campaign messaging aligns with Temple University's branding and content strategy, while supporting the missions of both the divisions and the university. The AVP will create and maintain partnerships with the leadership of the schools and colleges to understand and develop a symbiotic campaign and development plan that complements and multiplies giving. The AVP must be able to establish, grow, and maintain a foundational campaign strategy that creates ongoing momentum over time and develops the current and next generations of Temple fundraising professionals. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
*Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, management, or a related field.
*At least 10 years of experience in advancement or higher education marketing or communication.
*Additional experience in communications or marketing is preferred.
*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Must work well under pressure and handle confidential matters with discretion.

Preferred:
*15 years' experience in advancement or higher education marketing or communication.
