Mead & Hunt, an award-winning national architecture and engineering firm, has continued to exceed our strategic growth initiatives creating opportunity for our current and prospective team members. As a result, a part-time position available for a Senior Sustainability Planner within our Architecture West group. The hours for this position could vary weekly from 0 to 30 and potentially on occasion exceed more than 30. Since this position is part-time, there are no benefits. This remote opportunity is available in the state of Colorado.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and leading sustainability planning and environmental documentation projects and teams
  • Researching, analyzing, and creating planning documents such as: comprehensive sustainability programs, climate action plans, energy efficiency programs, waste diversion plans, and/or greenhouse gas reduction initiatives
  • Providing national and state environmental documentation including documented categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, and environmental impact statements
  • Incorporating sustainability elements into master planning and design projects
  • Preparing presentations for stakeholder and public meetings/workshops
  • Creating maps, figures, and graphics
  • Writing technical reports and public communications pieces
  • Preparing grant funding applications for clients and supporting clients with grant management reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

A moderate amount of travel will be required.

The successful candidate must have all the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, public policy, urban planning, architecture or related field from an accredited college or university
  • At least 20 years of relevant experience
  • Valid driver's license

The ideal candidate will have any/all the following:

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in creating Climate Action, Sustainability, Resiliency and Decarbonization plans for localities
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Self-motivation, taking initiative and leading project tasks
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Experience in public presentations and speaking
  • Experience working in team environments and working independently
  • Strong research skills related to planning, sustainability, resilience, and environmental topics

Hourly Rate Range: $64.00 to $74.00 - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
