Job Overview
The Engineering Technician II performs testing, measurements, and evaluations to support sustaining and new product development, in addition to other laboratory activities under the direction of Engineers.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
The primary "essential" duties and responsibilities for the subject position are as follows:
- Provide technical support to engineering staff performing product and component testing with supervision, training, and direction as required.
- Assist with fabricating product prototypes, including early-phase conceptual/feasibility prototypes, from informal or formal documentation.
- Obtain and maintain knowledge of past and current products, including applicable assembly and testing methods.
- Capture photographs, microscope photographs, video, and high-speed video as required
- Conduct product and/or component testing including recording of written records per notebook studies and protocol-based testing
- Set-up, de-bug, and run various test fixtures and test equipment, including PC-based data acquisition equipment.
- Perform test protocols and complete data analysis including detailed evaluation of component and/or product test failure modes.
- Maintain calibrated equipment, including performing Out of Tolerance investigations.
Minimum Requirements
- A high school degree or equivalent is required. Associate's degree in engineering, Biology, Life or Medical Health Science or another related technical field is preferred.
- A minimum of 1-3 years' experience in a lab environment is required; 1-3years in a medical device R&D environment is preferred.
- Prior experience building or testing products or prototypes is required.
- Must demonstrate competence performing testing and the ability to accurately keep records and report results
- Must be knowledgeable of Good Laboratory practices and QSR (Quality Systems Regulations).
- Familiarity with basic statistical techniques is preferred.
- The ability to use Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel or equivalent software applications is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Be able to follow technical instructions, written and oral.
- Must have good methodical work process and attention to details.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to collaboration and work in a team environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and protocols
- Strong time management skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint)
