Position Purpose: To coordinate the activities involved with the pricing of estimates and the purchasing of materials in the most cost effective and efficient manner. Essential Responsibilities * Selects and purchases materials * Expedites material shipments to meet construction schedules * Confers with Vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule * Sets up annual blanket purchase orders and bid requests * Updates and maintains estimating software * Manages actual material costs versus estimated material dollars * Maintains procurement records * Works closely with Accounts Payable to ensure accuracy of invoices * Approve invoices per accounting procedures up to $5,000 * Assist in the returning of excess materials * Works with estimating department for pricing of estimates * Works with project management to procure materials at the correct cost and in a timely manner Knowledge | Skills | Abilities * Ability to work independently and meet deadlines * Knowledge of current purchasing practices and systems * Good knowledge of MJE Tool Control Systems * Good negotiating and interpersonal skills * Proven communication, organizational, presentation and analytical skills * Ability to build and maintain strong Vendor relationships * Skill in preparing and maintaining procurements records * Extensive knowledge of industry tools and related items * Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook and JD Edwards Qualifications * High School Diploma. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering preferred, or related field equivalent experience will be considered. * 3-5 years of purchasing or material procurement experience is preferred. Work Environment * Must be able to remain in a stationary position over 50% of the time * The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc * Continuously operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, scanner, and computer printer * The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and coworkers and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations * Occasionally lifting 20 pounds |
