Bench Mechanic Work with general supervision, plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products by performing the following duties. Who are we? Job Summary
- Reads
and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products. - Performs
all deburring operations. - Strip
remaining maskant and silstic from finished chem mill parts. - Removes
burrs and sharp edges by use of various hand tools and materials such as files and edge breakers. - Smooths edges and removes build ups with air or electric equipment using abrasive
disk and sleeves. - Operates
burring equipment using countersink, grinding wheels, burring rolls, bench grinders, rotary files, drill presses and jitterbug. - Control
thickness by using ultrasonic gages and micrometers calipers,, scales to work to close tolerances +/-.002. - Responsible
for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area. - Performs
other duties as assigned including leading projects and participation in project committees.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Ability
to read, interpret, and comprehend instructions such as blue prints and shop drawings, chem. mill templates with an emphasis on chemical milling features, excess and special conditions. - Ability
to write simple correspondence. - Ability
to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. - Ability
to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. - Ability
to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. - Ability

Required Experience and Education
- H.S.
Diploma or GED - 1 - 3
years of experience preferred
