Your Opportunity as the Senior Technologist - Research and Development Frozen Handheld & Spreads (FH&S R&D)

Location: Lexington, Kentucky

Work Arrangements: Project-driven workplace flexibility allows for a hybrid and flexible work environment. 50% of in-office requirements via an annual designation to ensure meaningful, impactful on-site collaboration.

In this role you will:

  • Identify and manage benchtop development, scaling up, and implementation of new product formulations and technology processes, as well as enhance existing process technologies (roasting, blanching, milling, and finishing).
  • Independently develops written test plans and reports for testing, validations, and problem-solving measures. Generates sound, accurate, and reproducible data and makes critical observations.
  • Summarize key findings, recognize and report results, and recommend next steps. Identify discrepancies and investigate problems with minimal reliance on external resources.
  • Lead technical readiness for small to medium complexity initiatives.
  • Communicate results both orally and in writing to supervisor, key project members, and higher levels of management.
  • Support product and process launches during Commissioning, Qualification, and Verification.
  • Independently work across disciplines and functions and with outside vendors.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Food Engineering).
  • A similar 4-year technical degree with related engineering work experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in process engineering and/or product development.
  • Appetite to learn new skills that enhance the team's ability to execute and flow to the work, such as formulating products and understanding ingredient technologies
  • The ability to travel up to 25% to plant locations and corporate headquarters
  • As a project leader should be comfortable in leading team meetings, creating and managing timelines, and developing, documenting, and executing test plans
  • Must be a self-starter, have strong personal leadership, and be able to work autonomously to plan, implement, monitor, and deliver objectives

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:

  • Experience within the Consumer-Packaged Goods industry
  • Prior work in manufacturing, plant trials, scale-up, and commercialization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of experimental design of experiments (DOE) and statistical computing methods, including statistical process control (SPC) and process capability analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate and work across multi-functional boundaries in a dynamic project environment
