Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Lead Network Technician to support voice and data networks for the 14th Flying Training Wing at Columbus AFB. This is a full-time position.



Responsibilities

    Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and test all network switching and routing devices on both classified and unclassified networks.
  • Support a mixture of Cisco and Juniper devices from the end user up to the installation's network boundary, at Layers 1, 2, and 3.
  • Utilize a variety of monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Forescout, and will maintain the network's Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server.
  • Assist in other duties such as VoIP support, maintain accountability of equipment, and respond to all RFIs, taskers, and suspenses.
  • Utilize ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and CIPS for all requests and incidents tracking.
  • Act as Node Site coordinator, administer crypto equipment, and assist coworkers in other server and network actions.
  • Maintain all network communication closets.
  • Provide on-site customer support.
  • Work with other agencies/organizations and outside vendors as necessary.


Qualifications

7+ years experience supporting an enterprise network. Bachelor's degree in a related field desired. Must be Security+ CE certified (or hold an equivalent IAT Level II certification). Must be Cisco or Juniper certified. Able to act as the subject matter expert in providing support for the base network. Must have extensive experience with Cisco and/or Juniper tools and technologies. Must understand network concepts and theories and be able to weigh in on network upgrades, projects, decisions, and modifications. Must have experience with DNS and DHCP. Experience with SolarWinds and Forescout desired. Experience with TACLANE desired. Experience with Command Line Interface (CLI) software. Experience completing DISA STIGs. Familiar with best practices related to network configurations and security. Experience working in a DISA/DoD/AF environment and knowledge of relevant regulations, instructions, and guidance. Able to mentor junior technicians. Must be self-motivated and customer oriented, demonstrate strong communication and critical thinking skills, be able to multi-task, and be able to work with customers/users at all levels of an organization. Able to adapt quickly to changes in workload and/or priorities. Able to lift and install network devices/UPS battery units in excess of 50lbs. Must be able to work outside normal business hours (including evenings or weekends) when necessary to support a planned project or emergency outage. Must be a US Citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
