About the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) and the Academic Success and Advising at the Georgia Institute of Technology Under the leadership of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE), the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) challenges students to become accomplished learners who are able to make meaningful connections among work, study, and community. We connect curricular and co-curricular offerings to support students in developing a strong foundation for success, during college and after. We do this through the efforts of our faculty, professional staff, and students. The Office of Undergraduate Education's (OUE) Academic Success & Advising (ASA) unit creates and implements a comprehensive vision around academic success at Georgia Tech. ASA brings together OUE's programs and student services that focus on advising, academic transition, tutoring, pre-graduate/pre-health advising, and first-generation & limited income student resources. ASA also provides leadership for a wide range of targeted initiatives and special projects that impact retention, persistence, and timely degree completion. Job Summary
Provide information and counsel to undergraduate and graduate students within an assigned area regarding their academic pursuits and progress. Prepare and maintain associated student records. Usually concentrate in graduate programs or specialized academic area. May provide work direction to Academic Advisor Is and administrative support staff. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: students, parents and faculty, staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: students. This position will supervise: NA.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Meet with students concerning questions and issues regarding various aspects of their academic program. May include questions regarding academic program requirements, registration, permits, overloads, degree petitions, change of major, commencement, curriculum, academic progress, and Institute policy.
Job Duty 2 - Perform reference searches and records access in conjunction with student inquiries.
Job Duty 3 - Respond to academic administration and faculty requests for assistance in administrative, recruitment or student related matters.
Job Duty 4 - Prepare assessment reports; maintain student related records, files and databases.
Job Duty 5 - Review, approve and process curriculum related actions.
Job Duty 6 - Interact with other academic units in conjunction with joint programs.
Job Duty 7 - May schedule and coordinate student events.
Job Duty 8 - May provide input to academic unit's planning efforts.
Job Duty 9 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience Four to five years of job-related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications Master's Degree.

ABILITIES Travel between Atlanta Metropolitan State College and the Georgia Institute of Technology required for project delivery. KNOWLEDGE Preferred knowledge and skills include the ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse cultures and use of specialized computer applications This job requires knowledge of advanced university level academic program requirements and related administrative processes within assigned area. Also required are verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills and basic computer skills
