SUMMARY

Direct and perform a variety of duties related to planning and scheduling for turnaround work as well as Daily work requested by Operations and Maintenance Supervision. The scheduler is responsible for the overall scheduling efforts of maintenance required during planned turnarounds within the assigned area of responsibility. The Scheduler serves as a liaison between Maintenance and Operations for planning and scheduling functions necessary to maintain and improve equipment and process reliability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work with TA Planners to build effective P6 or Gantt Charts for overall turnaround scheduling communication during major TA events.
  • Assure the supervisors understand the schedule and manage the Work Execution Phase of the turnaround appropriately.
  • Report to Operations and management on the daily status of the turnaround.
  • Ensure Maintenance Turnaround Coordinators are scheduled around the clock to assure priorities are followed and that extra maintenance personnel are staffed around the clock for 5 days following planned startup. These extras will be called off when the plant is making prime product.
  • Assist and provide feedback for the Critique and Follow-Up Phase of the turnaround.
  • Ensure Factory/OEM coverage will be set up around the clock for large changes or new installations.
  • Serve as main Planning contact for any work to be done at Building 100-1, 41-6, 24-11, and Building 51 Labs.
  • Work with the E&I Planner to support any SIS based tasks as well as calibrations including review of processes to ensure compliance.
  • Work with Planning Supervisor to streamline metric reporting and possible implementation of Power BI solutions
  • Assist in being the main requisitioner to write large project requisitions for Maintenance.
  • Walk out all jobs with sub-contractors required to support the job to assure sub-contractors fully understand job scope.
  • Provide detailed information to the sub-contractors needed by them to develop cost estimates and to be properly prepared for the work.
  • Work with other planners for sharing task lists and stored plans to leverage knowledge where possible to ensure maximum resource utilization and prudent cost controls are used.
  • Backfill or assist other planners as needed and directed by Maintenance Supervision to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Use manuals, drawings, sketches, digital cameras and knowledge obtained through on-the-job experience to prepare manpower estimates and materials, special tooling, and equipment lists necessary for maintenance employees to properly perform their assigned tasks.
  • Follow all Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA) requirements and other safety procedures outlined in the TEX Authorized Safe Practice Manual and TEX Emergency Plan, including evacuation if appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as designated by supervision
  • Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site. Whenever appropriate, promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental incidents or issues to management so that the situation can be corrected.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School degree is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least five years field experience in planning, scheduling or repair of equipment such as exchangers, piping, pumps, compressors, instrument and electrical systems, and other related chemical process equipment is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job is performed mainly in an office setting or in the field; physical presence is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; have full use and range of motion of arms, hands and fingers to reach, grasp, hold, push or pull, twist, and work with tools; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to perform tasks that may require bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lying down or working from elevated platforms. The employee must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to see details of objects that are more/less than a few feet away; see differences between colors, shades and brightness and determine the distance between objects. This job requires response to audible emergency alarms inside of the plant. Employee must be able to evacuate when required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee must be able to work in an office setting as well as a normal factory environment, including enclosed spaces and exposure to various hazards. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, flame retardant clothing, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
