JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible for the development, implementation and facilitation of peer support programs throughout Centerstone specific to substance use and mental health disorders. Provide supervision to certified peers and individuals working toward supervision. Will provide guidance and support to the peer worker to promote competent and ethical delivery of services and supports through development of the workers application of professional peer work knowledge, skills and values. The coordinator will work directly with peers to help in identifying community resources, strategies to manage caseloads, and client advocacy while integrated into a larger clinical team framework. The Peer Coordinator will not act as the primary supervisor of the peer workforce instead the coordinator will provide matrix supervision to peers while they are integrated into clinical teams throughout Centerstone. Must work collaboratively and maintain positive professional communication with Centerstone teams, community partners and referral sources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide matrix supervision to all certified peers and individuals working toward certification throughout Centerstone.
  • Coordinate and facilitate peer support groups and individual peer support sessions
  • Train and supervise peer support staff
  • Provide regular feedback and guidance to peer support staff
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of individuals receiving peer support services
  • Assist peers in setting and achieving personal goals
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure engagement and participation in peer support programs
  • Collaborate with other service providers to ensure comprehensive and integrated support for peers
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of peer support programs and implement changes as necessary
  • Plan and facilitate educational workshops and support groups for peers and community members
  • Promote awareness and understanding of peer support services within the community

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to utilize an electronic medical record
  • Understanding of substance use/ co-occurring disorders
  • Understanding of medicated assisted treatment
  • Working knowledge of recovery
  • Ability to be innovative and be flexible
  • Understands the importance of evidence-based practices.
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Manages timeline to complete tasks and meets deadlines

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level

High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in social services preferred. Equivalent experience considered in place of education requirement.

Years of Experience

Three to five years' experience working as a certified peer in a behavioral health environment with addictions/substance use disorder. Experience working in a peer role within a treatment setting is required.

Experience supervising is preferred. Experience in evidence-based and best practices interventions is preferred.

Certification/Licensure

Certified as a Peer Support Specialist required.
