The Master Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining a master production schedule that details the production requirements, quantities, timing and minimizes production disruptions through optimized production planning. The role is responsible for driving high levels of on-time shipment commitments by scheduling by incorporating capacity and other constraints when scheduling to drive increased customer satisfaction and facility performance. This role is critical in balancing material availability, production capacity, and inventory targets while adhering to strict production and product guidelines. The Master Scheduler also interfaces with the Enterprise Supply Chain Scheduling team on balancing facility production inputs/outputs, support the enterprise SIOP and is the focal point of timely order updates to the commercial teams and others.


  • Analyze demand and supply at the product, customer, and master schedule levels, determine out of balance conditions, identify alternative and recommend actions for approval.
  • Collaborate with sales, enterprise scheduling, and manufacturing to understand and reduce internal and customer lead-times.
  • Conduct rough-cut capacity planning prior to publishing master schedule to ensure alignment with SIOP and budget commitments.
  • Oversee operations execution commitments within the product lines to ensure efficient detailed scheduling and utilization of capacity.
  • Identify, negotiate, and resolve conflicts with respect to material and capacity availability and order-promising integrity across the product lines.
  • Create a master schedule that satisfies customer demand while leveling workload released to manufacturing, and optimization of revenue, inventory levels and resource utilization and releases work order to the production floor.
  • Maintain scheduling parameters, such as lead-times, lot sizes, and cycle times.
  • Monitor the implementation of schedules and evaluate their success as well as assess and mitigate risks that may impact the schedule
  • Proactively identify potential scheduling conflicts or bottlenecks and work with relevant departments to resolve them.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Purchasing, Materials, Quality and others as necessary to ensure that the schedule is realistic and aligns with overall business objectives.
  • Evaluate and adjust schedules to account for inventories and capacity constraints.
  • Analyze forecast accuracy and production trends to improve scheduling efficiency and reduce waste or overproduction.
  • Participate in daily/weekly production meetings and provide visibility to capacity constraints, schedule changes, and priority shifts.
  • Communicates schedule changes to correspondent stakeholders as changes occur.
  • Review upcoming projects for complexity, special build requirement, line and capacity requirements, manpower allocation, etc.
  • Identify areas for process improvement within the scheduling function and implement changes to meet stated lead times.
  • BA/BS in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related field is preferred or minimally a HS degree with 10 years of progressively increasing experience in manufacturing/closely related industries.
  • 5+ Years in Supply Chain leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (SAP Preferred), advanced Excel skills, and experience with scheduling software (MRP etc)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively and cross-functionally with various departments throughout the company.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes required: Inventory management, supply management, capacity planning and materials management.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Physical requirements for this role include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time while operating a computer with occasional light lifting.
    • Regular visits to the production facility and engaging with operations team.
