Internship - Physician Assistant Fellow

Join our team which is committed to the delivery of the highest quality healthcare service. We are seeking a Physician Assistant Fellow who is self-motivated, energetic, and a take-charge individual.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides primary health care services to individuals and their families in accordance with approved privileges.
  2. Practices in collaboration with physicians, as defined by law.
  3. Provides care that emphasizes health promotion, wellness, and disease prevention.
  4. Diagnoses and manages acute and chronic health conditions in partnership with the patient.
  5. Participates in coverage of urgent care services including up to one evening per week.
  6. Works in a preceptorship-based continuity clinic model, that will also incorporate partnership with SSCHC medical residents, and one or more other advanced practice providers to care for a shared panel of patients on the medical team, which includes but is not limited to diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions.
  7. Actively participates in all APP fellowship program educational, mentorship, and professional development activities and collaborates with other APP fellows and core faculty.
  8. Includes patient in medical decision making.
  9. Orders, conducts, and interprets diagnostic studies and laboratory tests.
  10. Prescribes medication.
  11. Prepares and maintains medical patient reports and records.
  12. Participates in all required continuing education to maintain clinical skills and meet all licensure requirements.
  13. Attends all required SSCHC meetings including department meetings.
  14. Abides by all SSCHC policies and procedures.


Qualifications:


  1. Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Wisconsin.
  2. Completion of a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  3. Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants to be completed prior to start date.
  4. Licensed for prescriptive authority in the State of Wisconsin.
  5. Working knowledge of the social and cultural factors associated with the community's use of social and health care services.
  6. Ability to understand patient attitudes and needs, develop and orient program goals and concepts accordingly, and to work effectively toward their accomplishment with all staff members.
  7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, officials, the public, patients, other private and public organizational representatives, health care personnel and community groups and organizations.
  8. Ability to work under pressure, maintain personal composure, evaluate situations, and act/react appropriately, and use tact in dealing with visitors, patients, and difficult situations.
  9. Ability to identify and maintain confidential material.
  10. Ability to interpret and conform program operations to applicable laws, rules, regulations, and funding source requirements and according to acceptable standards.
  11. BLS certification maintained.
  12. Spanish speaking preferred.
