SUMMARY

The primary objective of this position is to safely operate machines to ensure

flow of quality shingles.

PRINCIPAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

* Prioritizes safety above all other metrics.

* Actively engages in safety initiatives to maintain a zero-incident culture.

* Understand and executes the incident management process

* Compliant with lock-tag-try, guarding, fork truck, confined space entry,

working from heights, and automobile safety.

* Participates in safety and housekeeping programs.

Operations

* Operate palletizer equipment conveyor (including but not limited to, start,

stop, observation, etc.)

* Perform preventative maintenance to the palletizer (including but not

limited to, tightening bolts, clean conveyor rollers, adjust reflectors and

switches, etc.)

* Clear any jams

* Visually inspect pallets and wrapped bundles (including but not limited to,

broken pallets, tightness, alignment, sealed ends) and set aside as

necessary.

* Hand seal packages in the event of open ends, loose wrap, etc.

* Manually palletize bundles and/or load onto palletizer machine (due to

process problems including, but not limited to, conveyor backups or jams,

rewrapped bundles, color changes, etc.)

* Notify wrapper attendant regarding misaligned wraps, out of square

bundles, etc.

* Assist in repairing line breaks and removing seconds.

* Transport pallets to palletizer as required.

* Manually load and unload pallets as necessary.

* Perform other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as

directed by the Front Line Leader (FL)

Job Description

* Ensures all production process equipment is operating and escalates any

concerns and issues.

* Coordinates and facilitates job changes to meet the production schedule

and customer expectations. Verifies machines are set up correctly via sign

off.

* Audits shift team job functions to ensure compliance to Standardized

Operating Procedures and maintain record of findings.

* Ensures hold material is segregated, retested, released, or scrapped as

directed.

* Maintains all implemented 5S improvements and ensures housekeeping

expectations.

* Reviews quality data when downtime/slowtime/process changes occur to

ensure quality requirements are met (examples: product change, raw

material changes or condition changes, granule voids/sticker).

* Follows and ensures quality guidelines for First Article to protect customers

from quality defects.

* Has a thorough knowledge of quality criteria and understands what it takes

to consistently manufacture quality shingles with the ability to identify in

spec product and separate it from out of spec product.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Qualified in all front-end or back-end production areas and can effectively

perform all jobs.

* Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities with the ability

to train and influence others

* Effective interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication,

listening, coaching, delegation, and conflict management and resolution

* Ability to understand the critical nature of personal leadership by example

and uses a high level of engagement with others

* Capacity to work independently and within a team-oriented environment

* Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES-A strong candidate must be able to:

* Utilize basic computer skills; ability to work in SAP, POP, Excel, Word, and

AQ.

* Log into and navigate Owens Corning Learning portal to complete required

online training routinely

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

* Completed High School Diploma or GED required

* A minimum of 1 year experience as an Operator 1 preferred.

* A demonstrated ability to lead and influence people in a positive manner.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

A strong candidate should possess the ability to:

* Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs without assistance

* Ability to routinely lift up to 80 lbs with assistance

* Work for up to 12 hours in extreme hot/cold manufacturing environment

* Operate/sit/drive, as required during shift work lasting 12 hours.

* Routinely ascend and descend stairs and forklift to enter work areas

* Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - steel toed

shoes, ear plugs, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) as

necessary for task

* Push/drive floor sweeping and cleaning equipment or tools as necessary

for housekeeping duties

* Schedule flexibility as needed to accommodate operation needs

Pay Rate: $24.91
