The Position

Technical Writer - Tucson, AZ

The Opportunity:

The Technical Writer will research, develop, write and edit technical and informational materials for various organizational needs and publications in one or more of the following areas: product labels; package inserts; instrument manuals; price lists; application sheets; customer bulletins and letters; online help text; instrument calibrator and parameter diskettes; or other electronic documentation for Roche products and/or other miscellaneous publications, both for internal and external customer usage. Collaborates and works with medical subject matter experts to obtain and ensure the accuracy of the medical content. Ensures that all materials meet established global and country standards as to appearance and content and ensures documents are in compliance with applicable government policies, procedures and regulations. Permanently optimizes processes in order to increase quality and efficiency standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Writes, updates, and maintains high-quality English content for Roche instruments and software, ensuring compliance with project timelines, documentation standards, and templates.

  • Independently researches and consolidates technical information, collaborating closely with content managers, project teams, manufacturers, and subject matter experts globally.

  • Partners with User Experience and Terminology teams to craft user interface (UI) messages that are clear, translatable, terminologically accurate, and stylistically consistent.

  • Participates in product risk assessments, ensuring that associated risks and mitigations are clearly documented.

  • Prepares deliverables in target languages post-translation, ensuring accuracy and appropriate formatting across all output types.

  • Reviews and edits documentation created by peers for quality, consistency, and adherence to terminology and style guidelines, offering constructive feedback as needed.

  • Creates and integrates multimedia content (e.g., images, videos, diagrams) using specialized tools, in line with documentation standards and project needs.

  • Supports content and translation management tasks, contributes to tool and process improvements, and may assist with onboarding, terminology management, or act as a terminologist.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree Technical Writing, Medical Technology, Communications, Health Science or equivalent

  • Five years of prior experience in technical writing, product labeling, technical publications or related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a highly regulated and matrixed environment.

  • Working knowledge of FDA regulations, quality system guidelines, ISO and other applicable regulations and standards.

  • Ability to work independently, creatively, and efficiently.

  • Must have strong organizational and project management skills.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Tucson, AZ is between $63,100 and $117,300. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
