Now, we're looking for an Active Thermal Control System Subsystem Manager (ATCS SSM) to support the systems that keep spacecraft (and astronauts) cool on their way to the stars.

What You'll Do

As the ATCS Subsystem Manager, you'll serve as a technical leader overseeing the thermal lifelines of spacecraft across multiple mission-critical programs. You'll guide architecture reviews, support system certification, and collaborate with commercial providers to ensure safety, performance, and mission readiness.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing system architectures, designs, test plans, and hardware requirements for ATCS systems

  • Assessing thermal hardware and materials for suitability in spaceflight environments

  • Evaluating Commercial Provider submissions for compliance with NASA requirements

  • Offering technical oversight and insights during major design reviews

  • Making recommendations on requirements verification, system hazards, and test strategies

  • Analyzing qualification test reports and resolving anomalies

  • Participating in milestone reviews and validation activities

  • Communicating progress and technical findings with NASA stakeholders

  • Supporting travel as needed for reviews, testing, and collaboration

  • Performing additional duties as assigned

What You Bring Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 1+ year of experience in aerospace engineering or related field

  • Familiarity with ATCS components such as:

    • Pumps, valves, coolant loops, radiators, cold plates, sublimators, heat exchangers

  • Experience supporting ATCS during spacecraft pre-launch, flight, and post-landing phases

  • Knowledge of ATCS systems verification, validation, and certification

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings, mechanical system design, material selection, and test procedures

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with NASA/JSC organizations and processes

  • Knowledge of spacecraft ATCS systems architecture

  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams

  • Understanding of the Engineering Life Cycle process
