Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, so we expect you'd work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks.

Some of the key responsibilities may include:

    Lead the planning, development, and delivery of complex solid waste management projects, including integrated solid waste management plans (ISWMPs), feasibility studies, technology assessments, and waste system evaluations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to public agencies, municipalities, and private-sector clients on solid waste policy, infrastructure planning, financial modeling, and regulatory compliance.
  • Managing multiple projects within the scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring quality standards on project deliverables;
  • Managing the overall delivery of projects, including project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management; and
  • Effectively stewarding and building client relationships to repeat business; and.Developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, geology, environmental science, finance, economics, or other related degree. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E., P.G.). (required)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in solid waste management, environmental consulting, or related fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen with the ability to align technical solutions with broader organizational goals and market needs.
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects, including project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required)
  • Regulatory knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal solid waste regulations, including EPA Subtitle D, RCRA, Clean Water Act (as applicable to leachate/stormwater), and recycling mandates.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Field work, site visits, and overnight travel may be required.
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
