Director, Curriculum and Accreditation Strategy - District Office
SUMMARY FUNCTION: The Director of Curriculum and Accreditation Strategy provides integrated leadership for curriculum development, instructional alignment with workforce and transfer needs, and institutional accreditation compliance. This position manages college-wide curriculum processes, the production of the annual College catalog, SACSCOC accreditation reporting and compliance (including substantive change), and the development, implementation, and assessment of the College's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The Director supports data-informed curriculum improvement using labor market analytics, curriculum mapping, and Generative AI to identify alignment opportunities with industry-recognized certifications and licenses. This includes the facilitation of Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) pathways through credential crosswalks. The role ensures that instructional programs and institutional processes meet external regulatory and accreditation standards and support the College's mission and strategic goals.
Essential Job Functions:
- Direct and manage the College's reaffirmation of accreditation processes, including compliance certification, off-site and on-site reviews, fifth-year interim reports, and substantive change compliance with a particular emphasis on program development and program closures.
- Oversee college-wide curriculum development, approval processes, and compliance with state and accreditation policies or requirements, including but not limited to (a) chairing the Curriculum Committee to support faculty, department chair, and instructional deans revisions to and development of curriculum, (b) administering and supporting use of technology systems for curriculum management, and (c) identifying and implementing continuous improvements to curriculum management processes.
- Serve as the lead project manager for the College's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), working collaboratively with the QEP Steering Committee to develop, implement, and assess initiatives that align with institutional goals and accreditation requirements.
- Lead College-wide effort to enhance alignment of curriculum and instructional programs with workforce and transfer needs. Use curriculum mapping, labor market skills, and licensure and certification data to recommend changes to programs that reflect emerging industry needs and enhance student opportunity to earn industry-recognized credentials. Includes development of crosswalks from industry certificates and licenses to course and program outcomes to support credit for prior learning, incorporating emerging trends into scope of responsibility (e.g., micro-credentials, non-credit to credit alignment and pathways), and representing the College in inter-institutional efforts to align curriculum and outcomes with regional partner institutions.
- Manage the production of the annual College catalog. Prepare user formatting guidelines, provide training and assistance throughout the revision cycle to all departments, initiate and maintain the workflow process for all catalog pages. Collaborate with College leadership for input on front matter; manage Department Chair and Dean revisions to all program pages; update photos, proofread and format final draft for submission, and maintains addendum for changes to the catalog.
- Supervise curriculum and accreditation personnel to ensure that all matters relating to curriculum and catalog production and accreditation processes, including training and support to end users, are handled in a timely and professional manner.
Additional Job Functions:
- Collaborate with any internal or external College constituents or groups as needed or requested as a subject matter expert regarding accreditation, curriculum, instructional alignment, and related trends, or issues; specifically includes serving as ex-officio member or guest of advisory committees for instructional programs.
- Represent the College at professional meetings and conferences related to accreditation, curriculum, instructional alignment, catalog development/maintenance, and other related topics as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) rules and processes related to curriculum, program, and course development, including regulations outlined in the Texas Administrative Code.
- Understanding of SACSCOC accreditation principles, policies, and procedures, including reaffirmation processes, fifth-year interim reports, and substantive change requirements.
- Ability to monitor, interpret, and implement updates from THECB committees, councils, and the Texas Register regarding proposed rule changes.
- Understanding of SACSCOC accreditation standards with a particular focus on curriculum development, program review, and substantive change.
- Familiarity with Workforce Education Course Manual (WECM), WECM workshops, Academic Course Guide Manual (ACGM), and Career and Technical Education Guidelines (formerly known as GIPWE) for aligning workforce and academic curriculum.
- Expertise in curriculum design principles, program learning outcomes, and alignment of course content to industry standards and transfer pathways.
- Knowledge of curriculum mapping analytics and labor market skills mapping to align programs with industry-recognized certifications, licenses, and high-demand workforce skills.
- Ability to analyze Plans of Study, program learning outcomes, and course learning outcomes to improve alignment with employer and regulatory expectations, including the use of Generative AI to analyze curriculum data, to identify opportunities for credential alignment, and to enhance catalog/course integration with workforce demands.
- Experience in designing and facilitating Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) crosswalks that connect licensure/certification competencies with college credit opportunities.
- Understanding of micro-credentials, non-credit to credit pathways, and competency-based learning frameworks to support workforce-aligned curriculum.
- Proficiency preferred in CourseLeaf CAT, CourseLeaf CIM, and Banner, with an emphasis on continuous improvement to optimize workflow.
- Strong ability to interpret and apply institutional research data, working collaboratively with Institutional Research and Data Science (IRDS) to inform curriculum planning and decision-making.
- Skilled in managing the CourseLeaf CAT module, coordinating efforts among 100+ college-wide stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely catalog publication.
- Proven ability to supervise and mentor professional staff, ensuring the effectiveness of curriculum operations and faculty support.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work with faculty, instructional deans, workforce leaders, and external partners on curriculum initiatives.
- Ability to lead and chair the Curriculum Committee, guiding faculty-driven curriculum development and review processes.
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to lead large-scale institutional initiatives and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to institutional effectiveness, innovation in teaching and learning, and continuous curriculum improvement to support student success and workforce readiness.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience preparing formal reports, accreditation documents, and institutional publications.

Required Experience:
- Five years in community college teaching, training, or administration.
- One or more years experience with curriculum development and/or accreditation experience.
- Three years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Eight years of progressive leadership or equivalent experience in curriculum, accreditation, or related areas preferred
