POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician that will be responsible for planning and managing all operational facility activities for interior and exterior for two Thomson locations. Candidate will need to have the ability to multi-task, manage projects, and work independently in a fast-paced work environment.

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician your focus will be to:

  • Performs a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for facilities, including, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades work. Ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition.

  • Assembles, repairs, maintains, and moves furniture, such as desks, cabinets, tables, chairs, shelves, and related fittings and fixtures.

  • Conducts routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning equipment; replaces filters; identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs to supervisor.

  • Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor.

  • Assemble RFQs, and engage with third party vendors to quote and design projects and manage contracts.

  • Coordinate all onsite Contractor and project work assigned by supervisor and manager

  • Back-up and coverage to the Supervisor as need to cover absences and vacations.

COMPETENCIES

  • Be an efficient planner who understands the importance of each process and prioritize it according to the degree of importance.

  • Be an excellent communicator who can maintain a clear flow of information across the organization and concerned parties.

  • Works with outside contractors on facilities related items.

  • Monitors inventory and order supplies.

  • Maintains records and logs of daily activities.

  • Assist with special events as needed.

  • Be able to read, interpret, and modify electrical prints and schematics and document all self-created changes.

  • General understanding and hands on experience with explosion proof and intrinsically safe work environments. Knowledge of applicable NEC and NFPA codes.

  • Proficiency in electrical installations with conduit and wiring practices

  • Experience using sensing and control devices. Proximity switches, through beam sensors, laser distance sensors)

  • Experience using both DC and AC motors, VG drives and Servo Controlled Systems.

  • Knowledge of 480V, 240V and 110V systems

  • Pipe fitting experience

  • Support and follow the Lock Out / Tag out program.

  • Must fully understand and adhere to the ARC Flash and electrical shock prevention.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.

  • Eight-ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must successfully complete a blueprint reading course.

  • Knowledge of modern office practices, methods and usage of computer equipment and applications.

  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively to associates of the organization.

  • Experience in the use and care of a variety of tools, equipment, and machines are essential.

  • Working knowledge of all the construction trades is required, including electrical wiring, electronic controls, troubleshooting of PLC's, machining, plumbing, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.

Expected Hourly Range: $26.44 - $39.00
