General Information:

James Madison University (JMU) Duke Club is accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant. This is a two-year position, August-May, contingent on performance and academic program requirements. The position includes 12 tuition credits per semester (fall and spring). A stipend will be provided per semester. The candidate will work approximately 20 hours per week.

The candidate must be in the process of obtaining a master's degree at James Madison University and possess a strong desire to recognize, celebrate, and impact athletics annual giving and donor engagement initiatives through collaboration with department staff as well as JMU students, faculty, staff, alumni, and donors.

The Duke Club is the fundraising arm for JMU Athletics, providing financial support to all 18 varsity sport programs. Duke Club members are Proud & True Fund (PATF) donors who recognize the value of the student-athlete experience and the JMU education - helping to keep JMU Athletics programs among the best in the nation.

Support of the Proud & True Fund is vital to the continued success of more than 500 JMU student-athletes and makes a significant impact on each athlete and program.

Position Reporting & Program Information:
Reporting to, and with assistance from designated staff, the Director of Internal Operations and Events with the Duke Club. The Duke Club is the fundraising arm and annual fund (Proud & True Fund) for JMU Athletics that supports the 18 varsity sport programs, scholarships, and the athletics general operating budget - as well as support for restricted giving sport program funds and fundraising initiatives for all 18 varsity sport programs and cheerleading.

Duties and Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing successful marketing and communications plans for the Duke Club in support of department and sport program fundraising initiatives; annual giving campaigns; and alumni, student, parent, and donor engagement.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Program Analysis
* Assist with day-to-day customer service - including, but not limited to answering phones, accessing donor/member account information, processing payments, etc. for the Duke Club and associated membership programs
* Serve as a contributing team member of the Marketing, Events, Communications (MEC) team within the Duke Club (inclusive of the Director of Internal Operations and Events, the Assistant Director of Events & Stewardship, and the Graduate Assistant for Events & Stewardship) to assist with project plan development, pre & post event plans and evaluation, on-site event management assistance and area leadership
* Track, analyze, and evaluate Duke Club communications to provide monthly analytics reporting on outreach, engagement, and retention across all methods
* Serve as communications lead/manager for select varsity sport programs - in collaboration with JMU program coaches, development officers and Duke Club administration

Website and E-News
* Create and manage sport program fundraising communications - with emphasis on outreach, engagement, and solicitation - for the Duke Club and associated membership programs, as well as select JMU varsity programs
* Assist with maintenance of unit-wide web pages on JMUDukeClub.com -including, but not limited to build out of web stories, page buildout, updating photos, content, graphics, video
* Assist with development of department communications - including, but not limited to development of written content, video content, graphic design
* Assist with creating/managing scholarship student-athlete, alumni student-athlete, and donor achievement/celebration content - including, but not limited to news stories, features, photo galleries

Social Media

* Create and manage a comprehensive social media calendar for Duke Club, including but not limited to - membership solicitations, donor deadlines, special events, announcements, etc. - for the Duke Club, Student Duke Club
* Interacting and responding to follower messages daily
* Use HootSuite to schedule out content month to month on all social media platforms and pull monthly data reports to see overall analytics of each platform
* Lead the development of content creation for Duke Club social media engagement, in collaboration with marketing and communication interns.
* Create social media messaging and events in consultation and coordination with JMU athletics marketing and communications, following University social media guidelines

Print/Web-Based Publication Development
* Lead and assist with development of Duke Club marketing materials - including, but not limited to brochures, flyers, posters, information inserts, manuals, membership guides, etc.

Game Day Responsibilities
* Assist with general gameday operations for all football games in the premium spaces (Club/Suite Level)
* Assist with general gameday operations for some basketball games in the premium spaces (Club/Courtside Lounge)

General Administrative Support
* Assist with management of Duke Club and associated membership records
* Collaborate with JMU Athletics staff partners in the Duke Club, Athletics Ticket Office, Fan Engagement, Graphic Design, Sports Information, etc.
* Assist with Duke Club annual giving and special project activities including, but not limited to mailings, fundraising campaigns, special events, etc.
* Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
* Must have earned a bachelor's degree at an accredited university
* Demonstrated familiarity and/or interest in non-profit work and/or college athletic fundraising
* Demonstrated writing experience
* Must have an ability to work independently and in a group setting
* Demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proficient in graphic design and marketing skills
* Experience and/or willing to learn adobe creative cloud (Photoshop, InDesign), email software (Eloqua), Sidearm (website buildout), and Canva

Students may apply to a graduate assistantship prior to being accepted into a graduate program. However, to be eligible to receive an assistantship upon entry into a graduate program, the following criteria must be met:

The student must be conditionally or unconditionally accepted into a graduate program. Students who are provisionally accepted will not be eligible until they achieve conditional or unconditional acceptance into their program.

The students must have an official transcript on file indicating completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or agency

After receiving an assistantship, the student must maintain at least a 3.0 graduate GPA in order to retain or reapply for the assistantship.

These are minimum criteria. Graduate program coordinators have the right to impose additional criteria if they see fit.
