Thomson Reuters is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to guide the development of our next-generation CoCounsel product. About the role: As a Lead Software Engineer, you will:
- Be a Developer/Programmer- Develop software applications by understanding user needs, writing well-designed code, conducting validation/testing, and executing full SDLC from design through release.

- Be an Agile Person- Contribute to all aspects of an Agile software development process including design, programming, testing, documentation, and quality assurance. - Be an Effective Communicator - Articulate complex technical issues, escalate issues or risks, share ideas, participate in peer reviews, and exhibit strong listening skills.Work with the business owners to translate requirements into actionable stories for the development resources.Create and archive technical documentation artifacts.
- Be a Technical Leader- Take responsibility for the performance, security, reliability, and quality as well as implement changes for improving the efficiency of technical components following industry best practices. Provide technical advice and estimates to management and contribute to the technical direction to be followed for new product development. Understand business requirements and set technical strategies and roadmaps for the system. Identify strategic/tactical solutions and provides risk assessments and recommendations to business and technology leadership.
- Be a Mentor- Lead the development team through all phases of the software development lifecycle. Mentor/coach technical team members to reinforce best practices, coding standards, security best practices, design choices to help develop team members and the overall team.
About You: You're a fit for the role of Lead Software Engineer, if your background includes:
- Technical Expertise: 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional software development teams 5+ years of experience in software development and a proven track record leading the development of scalable, web-based solutions.
- Front-end & Back-end Mastery: Strong Experience with modern UI frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, or similar), TypeScript, Node.js, and Python.
- AI Familiarity: Comfortable with AI technologies, including GenAI concepts like prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and fine-tuning.
- Team Leadership: People oriented
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent presentation skills, problem-solving and analytical
- Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or similar.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of SCRUM Agile methodology
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $116,900 - $217,100.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
