Overview

The Clinical Trainer will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of clinical training and educational programs for both department new hire orientation and continuing education for existing Health Care Services (HCS) associates. The Clinical Trainer will ensure healthcare service training is delivered in a standard, efficient manner and reinforces department policies and procedures, compliance criteria, quality standards, regulatory requirements and the principles of managed care. They will collaborate with the Clinical HCS leadership team to implement strategies for managing daily assignments and workflows. They will collaborate and coordinate with all IH departments including population health, pharmacy, providers, associate medical directors, servicing, and HCS to promote communication and education. Additional responsibilities will include but not be limited to monitoring regulatory requirements, department productivity, reporting HIPAA issues and continuously monitoring processes for optimal outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with active, unrestricted NYS license required.
  • Four (4) years of clinical experience, to include direct care experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting required.
  • Experience with regulatory and accreditation agencies including NCQA, NYSDOH and CMS preferred.
  • Strong presentation skills required.
  • Previous experience as a trainer or preceptor in a managed care setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in adult learning principles to instruct, motivate and direct individuals at various skill levels over the phone, face to face and in the classroom environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Proficient PC skills and MS Office skills with a focus on PowerPoint and ability to develop educational presentations.
  • Ability to apply creativity and problem-solving skills to organizational issues, establish and communicate goals, and motivate associates to accomplish goals.
  • Excellent critical thinking and time management skills.
  • Strong, effective, and diplomatic interpersonal skills with associates of all levels.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to complete job duties independently and proficiently.
  • Flexibility in work schedules and assignments required.

Essential Accountabilities
  • Develop, implement, and deliver an effective Training Plan that will include measurement of the learning process and alignment with baseline performance of clinical staff.
  • Conduct an annual Health Care Services (HCS) clinical training needs assessment, in collaboration with leadership, through either formal or informal survey.
  • Create and deliver training of clinical staff to promote member engagement and to ensure associate clinical knowledge is sound and provides applicable interventions.
  • Administer the Inter-rater Reliability Testing per regulatory requirements, compile results for manager review and any required audit or regulatory submission.
  • Create and deliver training on pathophysiology of body systems to ensure associate clinical knowledge is sound and information is used for relevant portions of their roles.
  • Create and deliver trainings on Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, Transtheoretical Model of Change, and other relevant models to promote member engagement and delivery of member facing services.
  • Create and deliver orientation training materials for clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Ensure training delivery includes department supervisors, managers, and subject matter experts to increase the number of skilled staff resources for associates.
  • Create standard operating procedures (SOP), guides, and desk level testing of procedures.
  • Attend relevant professional courses to ensure skills and appropriate adult learning principles are kept up to date.
  • Conduct ongoing staff development and individual remedial training as needed.
  • Perform formal evaluation of trainees.
  • Create materials for and conduct annual update training.
  • Maintain an associate tracking system for HCS training taken, including pre- and post-assessment scores and attendance, deliver to HCS management on a regular frequency.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts by offering ideas and creative solutions to improve policies, processes, and tools.
  • Perform call reviews and documentation audits to assess associate performance to identify and implement training opportunities.
  • Provide feedback and any necessary training while communicating concerns to managers.

Hiring Compensation Range: $85,000 - $97,500 annually

Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience.

In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
