DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Plumber, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks related to plumbing at Fort Indiantown Gap. Your duties will include installing new waterlines and fire hydrants, manufacturing and maintaining manholes, and repairing or replacing both above and underground water and sewer lines. In addition to managing large plumbing projects, you will also handle smaller projects from start to finish. You will be involved in creating a detailed plan for the project, determining the necessary materials and labor, coordinating with other departments or outside contractors, and preparing the site for construction. Your goal is to ensure that every project is completed efficiently and successfully. Your skills and expertise will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the plumbing systems at Fort Indiantown Gap.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Essential employee - Required to report to work during emergencies and office closings
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures including two years performing plumbing installation and repair assignments independently in commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential structures; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years performing plumbing installation and repair assignments independently in commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential structures.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- This position requires you to possess, at the time of application, or obtain, within 18 months of the date of hire, a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a water operator that is equal to or greater than Class E, Subclass 1. Certification must be continuously maintained for the duration of employment in the position.
Additional Requirements:
- You must pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Completion of formal training in the plumbing trade.
- Previous experience as a plumber.
- Previous experience in the operation, maintenance, and/or repair of water main breaks and the sanitizing of water mains due to main breaks.
- Previous experience in the maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of underground water mains and/or sewage lines.
- Previous experience in the installation and/or connection of service lines to water or sewage mains.
- Previous experience working in hazardous conditions such as confined space, electrical currents, chemical exposure, etc.
- Current certification as a water operator for Class E or greater, Subclass 1.
