The Director of Global Medical Safety role is pivotal in driving forward our mission of advancing eye care through development of next generation products. This position is located in Fort Worth, TX.
A typical day will include:
- Being responsible for safety management of assigned products in clinical development through post-approval lifecycle.
- Developing and updating safety documents with new or changes in product safety information. Ensuring accurate and high-quality outputs.
- Managing overall signal detection, monitoring and evaluation, for clinical studies, post-marketing experience, literature, and other sources. Leading the Safety governance boards related to assigned platforms. Providing medical safety review and approval of pre- and post-market documents (e.g., CER, CSR, etc.) as Clinical / Medical Expert.
- Creating post-market surveillance plans, periodic safety updates, product labeling and related documents, including safety information to support product claims.
- Responding to inquiries from health authorities, health care professionals, and legal on safety issues. Preparing safety data for health authority review boards.
- Providing expert medical and scientific guidance to local affiliates on safety issues and input to the clinical development program for assigned projects/brands.
- Ensuring timely communication of safety information to Qualified Person for Pharmacovigilance for applicable product portfolio.
- Preparing and presenting franchise or brand safety issues to Alcon Boards and other meetings.
- Providing guidance on safety topics, initiate and maintain productive cross-functional collaborations internally with R&D colleagues, business partners, and externally.
What you'll bring to Alcon:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; Bach. +10yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 10 Years of Relevant Experience
- Travel Requirements: 10%
