General Purpose: Works as a part of the Maintenance team to keep all equipment operating effectively and efficiently. Intermediate skill set with preventative maintenance, over-hauls, modification, fabrication, welding and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair. Working practical knowledge of basic maintenance shop equipment with the ability to trouble shoot and problem-solve. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and/or repairs of production and processing equipment as well as utility related equipment.
- Support the installation of new equipment.
- Assist the operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime.
- Foster teamwork consistent with our company and plant mission, vision, and core values
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures - report all safety related issues.
- Follow all Dairy Farmers of America, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate, regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
- Maintain safe working conditions and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety.
- Work independently to troubleshoot and make mechanical and electrical repairs.
- Dedicate effort to safety -- as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrived.
- Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgement.
- Adhere to all Dairy Farmers of America Quality, Safety, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity.
- Attend required training, including but not limited to: Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
- Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP) to: Search, Create, Document and Close all Maintenance Work Orders.
- Source and Order Maintenance Items from Catalogue Suppliers, examples: Grainger, Fastenal, Motion, Lowes

Minimum Requirements: Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Mechanically and electrically inclined individual with maintenance experience preferred.
- Learning orientation - Ability to learn and properly use testing and repair equipment such as: Ultrasonic Testers, IR Scanners, DMM, Shaft Alignment Equipment, Etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Use standard maintenance tools in a safe manner.
- Able to perform minor projects. (Typically, this includes non-sanitary piping, drain lines, vacuum lines)
- Able to perform routine repairs in a safe and timely fashion.
- Able to perform routine preventative maintenance on all pieces of equipment, identify any abnormal conditions, and maintain appropriate records.
- Able to follow process control variables and schematics and diagnose system problems.
- Hands on experience performing Industrial Electrical and Mechanical Troubleshooting: Pumps, Motors, VFD's, Valves and Controls): 120 VAC, 240 VAC, 480 VAC, Single and Three Phase Power
- Ability to read: Mechanical, Electrical Drawings, Process, and Instrumentation Drawings (PID)
- Able to assist other mechanics on more complicated repairs in a safe and useful manner.
- Good interpersonal skills necessary to foster cooperation and effectively communicate with others.
- Able to successfully complete a written maintenance test.
- Basic computer skills: MS Office Suite: Email/Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, SAP
