Position Summary:
The Senior Director of Bakery Operations plays a strategic role in supporting their region's bakeries to win as one team, bake with world-class practices, grow our people, and serve our customers. They will ensure operational capabilities within their bakeries by providing resources pertaining to training, coaching, talent, and finances needed to run the Operations Excellence Playbook. They will also stay highly connected to the marketplace to ensure their bakeries assume ownership of it and are accountable for meeting the needs of sales partners. The Senior Director of Bakery Operations will translate BBU's strategy into actionable region plans and lead change efforts to drive continuous improvement and business results across the five pillars. They will build a pipeline for, and continuously develop, both salaried and hourly talent, as well as build a culture committed to growing our business and growing our people.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Lead as an Operations Excellence Vision Carrier, serves the frontline through pursuit of excellence, and drives accountability for running the playbook across all bakeries in their region
Lead the growth and development of Bakery Leaders and equip them to coach their teams towards achieving world-class results
Partner with Bakery Leaders to deliver each bakery's annual productivity targets in support of achieving BBU's annual profit plan.
Lead a culture focused on continuous improvement and positive change in the areas of associate engagement and delivering sustainable results

Operate with a One Team mentality by partnering with peers in matrix organizations including Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality Assurance, R&D, Sales, Human Relations, Finance, and other departments to coordinate all phases of operations and provide the best product and service to customers
Understand market needs driving future bakery demand; build and implement plans to grow capabilities necessary to meet market needs.
Describes a sense of ownership over ensuring consistent full staffing and building a pipeline of talent for all assigned bakeries
Collaborates with Bakery Leaders to create plans that drive achievement of KPIs for all assigned bakeries
Demonstrates the desire to learn about the business, possesses analytical and conceptual abilities, and shows a capacity to formulate a plan that will impact the assigned bakeries in a positive way
Ensures assigned bakeries leverage problem solving teams to bring solution to highest leverage opportunities
Ensure the best quality products and excellent customer service by maintaining regular quality audits (AIB), good manufacturing practices, compliance with federal/state/local regulations (FDA, OSHA, Department of Agriculture, Department of Health, etc.), and HACCP, while meeting or exceeding Global Food Safety Standards, environmental compliance, and DOT mandates

Leaders who demonstrate this ability show a wish to learn about the business, possess analytical and conceptual abilities, and possess a capacity to formulate a plan that will impact the company in a positive way.The Director of Operations will understand the business and as such be able to define his/her own plan within the general company strategy and communicate clearly to the team.
Education and Work History:
Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Food Science, or a technical field required. Master's degree preferred.
10+ years of increasingly responsible manufacturing experience, at least 5 years which must be in the food industry.
8+ years of direct management experience. Management of multiple plants and departments preferred
Demonstrated leadership of safety initiatives and track record leading the improvement of operations while delivering day to day performance
Strong understanding and exposure to the operations of all plant departments: production, quality, maintenance, materials management, controllership, etc.
Participative management style and excellent organizational and communication skills
Demonstrated experience building a strong management team and promoting teamwork in multiple locations across all departments
Strong business acumen and working knowledge of continuous improvement, equipment design and installation, project management, and financial reporting
