Manager, Risk Management

Job Summary

The Manager, Risk Management oversees day-to-day insurance issues providing loss prevention, safety training support, and lowering claims outcomes for AMC. This role is responsible for all General Liability, Workers Compensation, Auto, and Property claims while maintaining AMC's company-wide risk management program. This individual will review incoming incident reports, conduct claims analysis, and prepare management reports as requested. This position serves as a liaison with theatre management, the third-party administrator, insurance broker, and defense counsels. The Manager also assists with budgeting, loss forecasting, and insurance renewal activities for all lines of coverage. This position reports to the Vice President, Insurance & Risk Management.

This position is based in Leawood, KS and is not eligible for relocation.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage claim operations and relationships with third-party administrator, broker, and defense counsel.
  • Analyze loss information to pinpoint key loss drivers and implement plans to reduce those risks.
  • Develop internal deal sheets summarizing settlement authority recommendations for various claims.
  • Provide leadership and direction to theatre management teams in areas of insurance claims and risk management issues.
  • Assist with planning and implementing AMC's insurance program.
  • Review the accuracy of the actuarial reserve analysis and participate in external audit functions across all lines of coverage.
  • Partner with internal audit to maintain internal controls and documentation related to risk management issues.
  • Support the creation and management of risk-related budgets and assist in developing loss forecasts.
  • Prepare management reports and risk analysis as requested.
What we need from you:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field.
  • 3+ years of related professional experience that demonstrates a working knowledge of commercial insurance coverage types, products and uses.
  • Experience with risk analysis, claims trending, and loss prevention techniques.
  • Familiarity with risk management systems and philosophy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Effective interpersonal skills working across all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Professional designations such as Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), or Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP)
  • Advanced degrees in a relevant field.
  • General knowledge of property and casualty insurance placement and risk control efforts.
