Postdoctoral Research Associates - Aging and Obesity Research - Jiang lab

Postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Yuwei Jiang in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) https://www.thejianglab.com/. We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows with backgrounds in stem cell biology, immunology, and metabolism to join our research team. Our lab uses adipose tissue as a model system to study organ development, expansion, and aging, focusing on their pivotal roles in physiology and pathophysiology, including metabolic health and obesity. Our work has been published in Dev Cell. (2021, 2024), Nat Commun (2017, 2023), Sci Adv. (2024), Nature Aging (2024), and Elife (2020), among others (Cell Rep. 2014, Cell Metab., 2017).

Our current research aims to: 1) Investigate the origin and diversification of adipocyte progenitor cells and their niche factors. 2) Understand the development and maintenance of brown and beige adipocytes in adult homeostasis. 3) Define the mechanisms underlying obesity- and aging-dependent metabolic decline. We utilize tissue-specific, inducible knockout and lineage-tracing mouse models, combined with molecular and cellular approaches, flow cytometry, and imaging technologies.
