Non-Invasive CVS Lab Coordinator

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Coordinates the day-to-day technical activities and services of the Noninvasive Cardiovascular (NI CVS) electrocardiography, stress testing and Holter/Event monitoring departments at Bryan Medical Center (BMC). Performs electrocardiograms, cardiac ultrasound stress testing, and other NI CVS procedures. Coordinates staff work schedules and provides staff education and documentation. Serves as a technical resource for NI CVS department including Echo lab and Nursing personnel, physicians, contract facilities and other Medical Center staff.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Coordinates and designs staff work schedules to maintain quality patient care, patient flow and appropriate coverage.

3. *Coordinates procedures/services for NI CVS to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, contract facilities and other hospital staff to ensure quality patient care.

4. *Responds to staff requests for assistance; assesses and resolves each situation as appropriate; notifies and seeks manager assistance as needed.

5. *Competently performs all types of electrocardiograms, cardiac stress testing and other NI testing.

6. *Serves as a clinical resource to NI CVS, clients and other medical center staff.

7. *Ensures staff technical competency in the operation of electrocardiograms, cardiac monitoring, holter scanning and NI stress testing; evaluates the accuracy and quality of tracings and provides technical assistance as needed; reports deficiencies in staff technical abilities to manager.

8. *Demonstrates new techniques, i.e. procedures and equipment to staff.

9. Maintains, develops and revises NI CVS department procedures.

10. *Coordinates the department quality improvement plan as required.

11. *Provides input on staff job performance evaluations in concert with manager; provides constructive information/feedback to employees regarding their performance; conducts verbal coaching to align employee behavior with technical performance expectations.

12. *Completes staff competency evaluations on an annual basis.

13. Receives telephone calls, vocera or secure chat messages for scheduling, coordination or questions with courtesy and accuracy, practicing excellent customer service; assists with clerical duties as needed.

14. Keeps work area properly supplied; manages inventory utilizing fiscally sound practices.

15. Assists manager with departmental orientation and staff meetings.

16. *Competently utilizes department computer systems, files and images; performs daily quality assurance on reports.

17. Maintains safe work environment while promoting ergonomic principles.

18. *Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.

19. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

20. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

21. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient's growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies.

2. Knowledge of the principles of cardiac anatomy and function.

3. Knowledge of clinical applications, procedures, methods and regulatory requirements of NI cardiac testing.

4. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

5. Knowledge of data management principles and practices.

6. Knowledge of clinical healthcare operations.

7. Skill in operating varied components and equipment within NI cardiac testing.

8. Ability to oversee and evaluate employee compliance with department procedures/protocols and technical competency.

9. Ability to lead teams and work as a team member.

10. Ability to counsel and provide feedback regarding employee work performance.

11. Ability to react and effectively perform work under stressful and emergent situations.

12. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

13. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.

14. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.

15. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.

16. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of healthcare experience required. Previous experience performing electrocardiograms, cardiac stress testing, Holter/Event recording and related NI CVS procedures preferred.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.

Valid State of Nebraska driver's license required. Verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)

(DOT) - Characterized as medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10

to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move
