Position description The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of non-tenure track Lecturer positions to teach MCB courses as the need arises. Teaching Responsibilities We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach small, medium and large size lecture, seminar and/or laboratory courses in the subject areas listed below: Biochemistry, Biophysics and Structural Biology Cell Biology, Development and Physiology Genetics, Genomics, Evolution and Development Immunology and Molecular Medicine Molecular Therapeutics General Duties In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), maintaining a course website, and using a learning management system( e.g. bCourses at UC Berkeley, Canvas, etc.). Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Minimum Basic Qualifications (at the time of application): Laboratory Courses and Lecturer Courses: A Master's degree (or equivalent international degree) is required by time of application. Additional qualifications (required at time of start) Lecturer Courses: A Ph.D or M.D. degree (or equivalent international degree) is required to teach a lecture course by the time of hire. Preferred qualifications Preferred Qualifications (by start date): Lecture Courses: Documented experience in teaching one of the biological or life sciences at the college level. Laboratory Courses: Completion of all Ph.D (or equivalent international degree) requirements except dissertation in a biological field or life sciences.
