If so, we invite you to apply for the Classification & Compensation Consultant position at the University of Wyoming.

Job Purpose:

Assist with the development and implementation of effective classification and compensation strategies that align with the university's mission and strategic goals. Collaborate with various departments to ensure equitable and competitive compensation practices, enhance employee satisfaction and attract and retain top talent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth job analyses and classification reviews to create and maintain accurate position descriptions, establish fair pay ranges, and assess FLSA exemption status.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for compensation adjustments, organizational structures, and staffing models based on internal data and market trends.
  • Lead and contribute to HR projects, offering expertise in compensation strategy and change management, while aligning with university-wide initiatives.
  • Utilize advanced data analytics to assess salary structures, evaluate compensation trends, and support informed decision-making.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to university leadership, providing guidance on classification and compensation best practices, policy compliance, and workforce planning.
  • Leverage HRIS and compensation-related software to maintain data integrity, generate reports, and enhance compensation management strategies.
  • Manage annual compensation cycles, including salary surveys and market evaluations, to ensure the university remains competitive and equitable in its pay practices.
  • Develop and deliver training programs, resources, and tools to support departments in navigating compensation policies and best practices.

Supplemental Functions:
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Keep apprised of and maintain knowledge of national and state HR and compensation laws, regulations, market trends and best practices.

What We're Looking For:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 4 years of experience in compensation analysis, job classification, or a related HR function.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Professional certifications in HR or compensation (e.g., CCP, PHR, SPHR) are highly desirable.
  • Experience using HRIS systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle HCM) for data analysis, reporting, and compensation management.
  • Familiarity with compensation-related software and salary survey tools (e.g., CUPA-HR, PayScale, ERI).
  • Proven ability to provide strategic compensation guidance to senior leadership and campus partners.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and highly effective written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to clearly convey complex compensation principles and data to diverse audiences, including leadership, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience leading change management initiatives related to compensation strategy, organizational restructuring, or policy implementation.
