Our research and community engagement have been funded with nearly $13 million in external funding in 'FY 25, with areas of emphasis that include applied biostatistics and epidemiologic methodology; cancer, chronic disease epidemiology, and social determinants; infectious diseases; and tobacco, alcohol and other substance use, among others.

| Position Description |
The Department of Population Health Sciences in the School of Public Health at Georgia State University invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor position in Biostatistics. This non-tenure-track teaching faculty role will primarily focus on delivering undergraduate and graduate courses in biostatistics and related topics, including programming in
SAS and R, starting in Fall 2026. Key responsibilities include teaching both in-person and online biostatistics courses (synchronous and asynchronous) at the undergraduate and graduate levels (
MPH and PhD), mentoring graduate students, and contributing to the department's educational mission. |

| Preferred Qualifications/Experience |
The ideal candidate will hold a doctorate in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field. Candidates must have a robust background in biostatistics methodology with a strong commitment to teaching and the preparation necessary to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Specific teaching assignments will be based on teaching needs and faculty expertise, and may include courses at the introductory, intermediate, or advanced levels. Candidates must have strong biostatistics skills and must be comfortable with programming in multiple statistical packages, with particular emphasis on
SAS and R. Individuals with expertise in any area of biostatistics are encouraged to apply, and experience in highly computational methods and machine learning is a plus. Candidates may also contribute to collaborative research in well-established areas within the Department of Population Health Sciences and the School of Public Health, including chronic and infectious disease epidemiology, tobacco epidemiology, disease modeling, and social epidemiology.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Candidates must also demonstrate a willingness and ability to contribute to the University and the profession through service activities. |
