The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) is seeking a full-time Digital Marketing Specialist (37.50 hours per work week). 

The Digital Marketing Specialist position plays an integral part in ABMS’ digital marketing and communications strategy to strengthen its brand awareness and leadership role in the marketplace. As a key member of the highly collaborative Marketing & Communications team, this person develops, implements, and distributes high quality communications across multiple websites and other digital channels, and consistently monitors and analyzes the performance of all communications to inform future strategies. 

This is an exempt position on the ABMS Marketing & Communications team. 

Established in 1933, ABMS is responsible for the creation of standards overseeing physician certification in the United States. Dedicated to improving the quality of care to the patients, families, and communities they serve, the 24 ABMS Member Boards develop educational and professional standards and programs of assessment to certify physicians and medical specialists. More than 985,000 physicians and medical specialists are certified by one or more of the ABMS Member Boards in one or more of 40 specialties and 89 subspecialties. Position Responsibilities 

Content Management (50%)

Ø  Create, manage, prepare, and post content on multiple ABMS websites, Microsoft Teams, and third-party platforms;

Ø  Create, manage, prepare, and send broadcast email campaigns;

Ø  Review then update or remove outdated web content, with guidance from internal stakeholders;

Ø  Create and monitor forms on ABMS websites;

Ø  Manage websites to support digital ad campaigns and optimize for SEO and keywords;

Ø  Create or modify artwork for banners, newsletters, and web pages – crop and scale graphics, apply color correction, etc;

Ø  In partnership with Marketing & Communications team, proofread content, and suggest and apply edits;

Ø  Provide customer service to internal staff for digital project support.

 

Development, Maintenance, and Support (15%)

Ø  Working independently and with third-party vendor(s), manage the ongoing development, maintenance, and support of ABMS websites;

Ø  Develop, maintain, and support project management workflows;

Ø  Lay out web pages following established templates;

Ø  Optimize websites for image quality and page download speed;

Ø  Upload, tag, edit, and maintain videos on YouTube;

Ø  Insert/maintain metadata on new media files on all sites – PDFs, images, etc;

Ø  Manage contacts on broadcast email platforms;

Ø  Code HTML in WordPress and third-party platforms (including Cadmium event platform, Squarespace, Mailchimp, Constant Contact);

Ø  Maintain digital assets;

Ø  Serve as primary liaison with web vendors;

Ø  Manage site or section redesigns on multiple ABMS domains;

Ø  Provide technical assistance and training for internal team to support websites and workflows;

Ø  Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget;

Ø  Prepare and maintain how-to documentation for related tasks;

 

Project Management and Processes (15%)

Ø  In partnership with Marketing & Communications team, develop and manage the content workflow, approval, and posting processes;

Ø  Advise and support colleagues to optimize content for digital publication;

Ø  Ensure adherence to ABMS design, style, and content standards throughout websites, campaign emails, and other digital communications;

Ø  In partnership with Information Services and web hosting vendors, maintain and follow best practices for site security and monitor ABMS domains for possible risks;

Ø  In partnership with the Information Services Department, ensure reliability and security of data made available through ABMS channels.

 

Metrics (15%)

Ø  Work independently and with third-party vendor(s) to compile and interpret analytical website and email statistical reports, including website traffic trends and user behaviors, to identify opportunities for improvement;

Ø  Monitor form submissions and route when needed; provide reports and analysis.

 

Strategy (5%)

Ø  Develop and manage a unified ABMS web and digital strategy;

Ø  Build and maintain a strong ABMS-branded digital presence;

Ø  Ensure the ABMS digital presence remains current with established technology trends;

Ø  Monitor and recommend new digital technology opportunities, as appropriate.

 

COMPETENCIES 

Ø  Excellent written and verbal communication with experience in web and email content writing and development;

Ø  Attention to detail;

Ø  Strong organizational skills;

Ø  Ability to work in a collaborative environment to meet strategic objectives;

Ø  Ability to manage multiple projects independently in an environment with critical deadlines;

Ø  Strong knowledge of trends in digital marketing and communications;

Ø  Ability to provide quality customer service; 

Ø  Basic project management;

Ø  Managing external resources, especially web vendors;

Ø  Optimizing content for SEO.

 

 EDUCATION 

Ø  Bachelor’s degree, with an emphasis on marketing, communications, design, or related fields — preferred.

 

 EXPERIENCE 

Required

Ø  At least four years of hands-on web and digital marketing experience, including extensive use of WordPress;

Ø  Experience managing broadcast email campaigns(s); Mailchimp, Constant Contact or similar platforms;

Ø  Knowledge of basic HTML coding;

Ø  Experience creating and managing website reports, including Google Analytics;

Ø  Demonstrated editing and proofreading skills; copywriting skills a plus;

Ø  Experience with basic photo editing using Adobe Photoshop or similar applications;

Ø  Experience using Adobe Illustrator or similar, vector-based applications.

 

Preferred

Ø  Experience with associations, medical societies, certifying organizations, or health care industry;

Ø  Experience working with outside resources, such as web vendors;

Ø  Experience using Microsoft 365;

Ø  Familiarity with Squarespace and/or other content management platforms.

 

Salary, Work Hours, and Benefits

 

ABMS is offering a starting salary range negotiable from the mid $70’s to the mid $80’s based on relevant experience. The Digital Marketing Specialist position is a remote position with preference for a candidate to be based in the greater Chicago metropolitan area. ABMS employees are currently working remotely unless they choose to work in the Chicago office. If an employee wishes to visit the office, the employee must be vaccinated against COVID-19. ABMS considers an employee to be vaccinated against COVID-19 if the employee has received the primary vaccine and one booster dose. This policy may be revised at any time.
